Another thing I thought was really effective was how Nicole got her imagery by physically utilizing the item she was researching which in this case was coffee. She then created her own print using this and experimented with the marks made from coffee mugs. On my page I tried to replicate this to give a general feel of how her book was presented and to tie in with the theme. She chose this imagery to use in a final print and manipulated it by rotating the images and overlapping them to create a more intricate pattern. The overall colours that she used in her book and drew inspiration from are what one would traditionally associate with coffee, being different browns and rich colours.
A lot of Lauren's work was also looking at the architectural side of buildings and primary sources she has photographed. I really like this particular approach, especially as different architecture is something that I have taken into consideration when taking photographs in Winchester. She looked as some other relevant artists as well such as a project called 'Knit the city' which is something that also inspired me as this was a skill I learnt in a previous project and would like to use again. Lauren's analysis is thorough throughout her book and each artist she has researched, she has linked it to her own work and how it is being utilized by others. She states "I really like the textiles approach to something that is typically quite graphical".
